GLS (in collaboration with Southampton City College) are extremely pleased to be able to once again welcome students back into our premises for their work experience week as part of their Production Arts course.
Whilst the pandemic didn’t stop the work experience scheme completely – for obvious reasons, we did have to move it online until Covid was brought back down to a manageable level.
At GLS we firmly believe there is nothing more valuable than actual ‘hands on’ experience in a welcoming and semi-protective environment , allowing the new generation to learn what life in a live and busy lighting rental warehouse environment actually entails.
Even in quieter times there is plenty to get involved with in terms of background maintenance, testing, prep and deprep, aswell as the opportunity to be introduced to how shows are designed in CAD and then visualised out into the real thing.
Thank you to the lads who joined us this week for all their hard work – we’ve enjoyed having students back, and we look forward to those still to join us for their week!
